Diocesan Museum and Francescano Monastery

The Francescano Monastery, which dates back to the 13th century and was recently renovated, is located in the historic heart of the region and houses the documentation centre of the Middle Ages in Gallura. The exhibition halls follow the routes of Luogosanto's ancient past. It is most likely the first monastery built by Franciscans in Sardinia. Inside there are exposed jewels, which after a vote, were donated by faithful Christian followers of the Virgin Mary where religious events occur for rural churches of the territory. What is particularly interesting is the Museum of the statues of rural churches dating back to the 17th century, which is unique to Gallura.
