This collection is named Tonino Forteleoni (1915-1996), an original and peculiar artist known for his admirable dexterity and imagination. He had the idea to "extract" the soul of the cork and turn it into beautiful mosaic carvings. By sculpting and carving the bark with his technical staff he was able to bring out all the warm shades of the cork’s colour, creating works of art as exciting paintings and various furniture. The collection can be seen in his home in Luras, as well as his last residence, which overlooks the granite of the Piazza del Rosario. The website dedicated to the collection http://www.forteleoni.it has information on his life, and describes the techniques used to create his works, the materials used and other useful information for those who wish to learn and better understand the work of the great cork artist. It is recommended to call to arrange a visit.
